Cinnamon Roll Matcha Latte with Cream Cheese Cold Foam
Why we're into it:
- Tastes like a cinnamon roll in drink form
- Calm, steady energy (no coffee crash)
- Creamy, fluffy, slightly indulgent
- Works iced or hot
- Makes your kitchen smell unreal
Ingredients
Cinnamon Syrup
½ cup water
½ cup brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
Cream Cheese Cold Foam
2 tbsp cream cheese (softened)
2 tbsp heavy cream
1 tbsp milk
1 tbsp powdered sugar
½ tsp vanilla extract
Matcha Latte
1-2 tsp Morning People Matcha organic matcha powder
2 oz hot water (not boiling)
1 cup milk of choice
1–2 tbsp cinnamon syrup (to taste)
Ice (if making iced)
How To Make It
1. Make the cinnamon syrup
Add the water, brown sugar, and cinnamon sticks to a small pot.
Bring to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat and let it do its thing for about 10 minutes. Stir occasionally. Your whole space will smell like a bakery.
Remove from heat, let cool, then take out the cinnamon sticks. Store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
2. Make the cream cheese cold foam
Add the cream cheese, heavy cream, milk, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a bowl.
Whisk really well until smooth, thick, and fluffy.
You can also use a handheld frother if you have one.
You’re looking for something that feels like soft, melted frosting - thick but still pourable.
Tip: Make sure the cream cheese is actually softened or it’ll clump.
3. Prepare your matcha
Sift your matcha into a bowl
Add hot water and whisk in a zig-zag motion until smooth and frothy.
Take a second here. This part is kind of the ritual.
4. Assemble
For Iced:
- Fill a glass with ice.
- Add milk and cinnamon syrup.
- Pour matcha over top.
- Spoon a thick layer of cream cheese foam on top.
- Sprinkle a little cinnamon if you’re feeling it.
For Hot:
- Warm your milk.
- Stir in cinnamon syrup.
- Add matcha to your mug.
- Pour milk mixture over it.
- Top with cream cheese foam + cinnamon.
Done. Cozy achieved.
A Few Helpful Notes
- Don’t use boiling water on matcha, it makes it bitter.
- Adjust sweetness depending on your preferences
- This syrup also tastes really good in coffee or drizzled over oatmeal.
- This recipe can easily be made dairy-free - just swap out the cream cheese and creamer for dairy-free versions!
